The Evo Mini 7 boasts a 9 ranking on the Kryptonite 1-12 comparison system, which ranks the varying levels of security within the company's product range. Tough Little Lock, Nice Cable : Kryptonite Evo Mini-7 with 4-Foot Flex Lock
This u-lock/cable pair is great. I was hesitant to get the Mini-7, but since moving to a neighborhood with a higher crime rate, I felt my cable lock was going to end up on some bike thief's short list, and I dislike using larger u-locks and having my bike tip over in a crowded bike rack. My commute is to areas of high biking density (university campus and downtown hospital), where it is a huge convenience to have a cable lock to facilitate parking against trees and telephone poles: the 4' cable that comes with the u-lock keeps my options open--in which case I use the u-lock to attach the front wheel to the frame, wrapping the cable around the trunk/pole. My bike is a '70s Peugeot Mixte, no shocks or anything and relatively slim 27" tires, but it is impossible to u-lock the front wheel, the frame and a post all together; it's got to be the back if I want to get a wheel into the u-lock along with the frame and a parking meter/bike rack/street sign, if there's time to tinker with the geometry; in this respect, the cable really complements the smaller u-lock.
